Before you start shooting, here’s a few hints and tips to help you get the best from your new Longbow. Your new bow has has been carefully tillered (engineered to bend evenly at a given draw weight and length) for the very best performance and durability. Treated well ,it could last a lifetime. Treated hastily and incorrectly, it could quickly become firewood!\u003cbr\u003e Stringing the bow\u003cbr\u003e Only string a wooden bow with a tip to tip stringer or the push pull method. Place the bottom nock against the left instep with the bows backing facing the archer, hold the handgrip of the bow in the left hand tucked tight against the waist, and with the right hand, gently but firmly push the upper string loop into the groove in the upper nock. Always make sure both limbs of the bow take equal strain whilst stringing ( guaranteed with a tip to tip stringer ) NEVER EVER use the step through method, this places a huge strain on the lower limb and could introduce a twist or worse. NEVER use a flatbow\/recurve stringer, as this also places unequal strain on the limbs.\u003cbr\u003e Never exceed 6 1\/2\" of brace height, keep it between 5 1\/2\" and 6\"\u003cbr\u003e Warming the bow up\u003cbr\u003e Once strung, leave the bow for 5 minutes too settle and get used to being under tension, then gently draw the bow back a few dozen times at 1\/4 draw , a few dozen at 1\/2 draw etc until you approach your draw length. You are effectively teaching the wood to bend again.
