With today's new materials and optimized designs, all compound bows are impressive! I was always curious about their appearance and performance. For my first bow I needed some advice and guidance from Eliza Archery. After the learning curve and considering my budget, I selected the HB33 Obsession kit as the best value. (50 lb) During my first visit the bow was checked and set up for my draw length. (Thank you Kim) The original kit is for hunting, but I intended to use the bow for fun and target practice. For me the deciding factor was the shape of the riser and the grip position. The 2 large cams are smooth and positioned to cancel each other on the vertical axis. The hard backstops ensure a consistent draw length. When fired the bow feels balanced. It does not jump or vibrate. It's just passive and quiet in your hand, I did like the 5 pin UV optic fibre hunting site. Shooting fixed distance targets, I decided to replace it with an HHA Optimizer light cadet single pin vertical sight. For my application this was the best value to upgrade a sight and gain fine X -Y adjustments without tools. Please note: The HHA single pin site is only available for RH archers. During the string settling in period (400 - 500 arrows) I experienced a small amount of peep twist and found that I had a loose D loop. Once tightened with a proper tool everything returned to normal. At the full draw weight of 50 lb the bow is too strong for 18-meter targets, I am using the bow for indoor target practice, so I released both limb sets by 11 mm bringing down the poundage from 50 to 35 lb. At 18 meters the Aero Pro carbon arrows still penetrate deep in the targets. (400 spine) Over the last 12 month the bow has been super consistent in accuracy. I am still working on mine. :) I consider the HB33 Obsession to be a precision-built bow exceeding my novice expectation. A pleasure to practice with.
