Justin Taylor

Background:

Growing up I loved Robin Hood and all things archery but I did not attend my first come and try session until I was in my mid 30’s in 2022 and have been hooked ever since!

I started my archery journey later than most but in archery age is no barrier!

Career Achievements:

- 3rd place Pan Pacific Master Games 2024

- Yering District Archers recurve archer of the year 2024

- Multiple club record holder

- Back to back winner at Eliza Archey indoor league matchplay

Favourite discipline:

Indoor and outdoor target are my favourites. I also really enjoy matchplay competition.

What is your most memorable experience in archery:

Travelling to Queensland to compete in the 2024 Pan Pacific Masters Games where I placed 3rd in my division. This was my first competition interstate and also where I shot 70m. Across all divisions there were more than 60 archers from 7 different countries.

Also the first time shooting an all gold! (All 6 arrows in the gold at the same time! It’s harder than you’d think!)

Best piece of advice for upcoming archers?:

1. You don’t need the most expensive gear to start but be careful buying cheap equipment from discount online stores. Quality and safety standards are never guaranteed and you will get no after sales support or advice. Always choose an archery store

2. Never underestimate the value of a coaching session. They are always beneficial, even if it is just for 30 minutes! It could be one on one or a group session at you club, another club, or you favourite archery store!

3. Celebrate the wins and always remember to have fun!
